Students Council Election and Results

St.Xavier’s College Student Council Election was held here on Friday. Students elected the candidates with keen interest.

The college steps into its 92nd academic year with its own standard quality of education. The college conducts student council election every academic year. Election for 2014-2015 academic years was held on 27.06.2014, Friday in the college premises.

College increase its efficiency still further, autonomy has been conferred on St.Xavier’s College with effect from June 1987. In the autonomous set up, this College is free to determine the course pattern, frame its own syllabi for the various courses and adopt suitable methods of teaching and evaluation. The College is an affiliated First Grade College of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University which will award degrees with the name of St.Xavier’s College mentioned on them.
The College was accredited with Five Stars by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on 17th April 2000. The College was Re-accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC in April 2006.
This academic year began on 18th june for the senior students and 19th june for first years. Student’s council election is an important event which is followed by Xaviers College. It makes student to lead towards his/her leadership as career. The nominees were asked to submit their particulars on 26th June, Thursday before 3p.m. All the nominees forms were nominated by one proposal and one seconder. Wall posters, banners, etc. were prohibited inside and outside the college. Only hand prints of 8*5 inches were permitted. The students are asked to gather in front of the library. The candidates expressed their words to students for voting them.

Mr.Francis Xavier, Dean of students began his talk with an introduction about election. He said that more than 10, 000 applications sold this year and made a history in the college.

Mr. Eugine Franco delivered his powerful words “Making an ordinary man to an achiever is the goal of election. Xavier not only has elections but also contains the Election. The students with arrear are not allowed to participate in elections. So he added Arrear is a barrier to ones carrier.” He also added few words on discipline, he said the words of C.N.Annadurai, ’Youth is Sharp; Youth is Hot; Youth is Bold, Big wonders are made by Youth’. Rev. Dr. Sahaya Raj said few rules about the Election Committee.

Principal Rev. Dr. Gilburt Camillus said that students should grateful to Jesuit management for allowing us to conduct student election. He also remind the holistic formation which is given to the students. Mrs. Charlet Rosemary,Dean of Women Students also delivered her thankful speech. Election polling began at 9.15am. This is the third year of electronic voting.

The polling officer’s main duty was to conduct the election smoothly. They are responsible to accompany the students to the polling centre’s to cast their votes for various posts such as chairman Vice-chairman, Secretary and join-Secretary. The voting poll was closed nearly at 11.00am. The Election result was announced at 11.50 by Rev.Dr.V. Gilbart Camillus.S.J.

  • S.Selvam 3rd B.Com Corporate Secretary ship(Shift-II) – Vice-Chairman;
  • J.Amala Jose Infantcy 3rd B.A English(Shift-I) Secretary;
  • Meenakshi 3rd B.A English(Shift-II) Secretary;
  • Selvin Samuvel 2nd B.Sc. Chemistry (Shift-I) Joint-Secretary;
  • S. Pon Vignesh 2nd B.Com Corporate Secretary ship(Shift-II), Joint-Secretary.
